Pepsi and Coca-Colas new sponsors, Bertha and Herbert Robinson, race around the Circuit of the America's track October 14th, 2015, to prove which brand is the winning brand of soft drinks! This has always been a feud in their home and now they were able to put the brands to the test with caffeine fluid four wheeled scooters.
Ethel Blatt turns 100 today, and she's not just lighting it up with a birthday cake and candles, she's celebrating a way most people wouldn't expect a 100-year old would celebrate; smoking a cigarette. Her family wanted her to have the best 100th birthday a gal can have, and lets face it 100 is the new 20, so they took time out of their busy lives to buy her favorite cigarette brand off the black market.

Academic Shoot reflection and critique (Absent)

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?
Trying not to disturb people while they were doing work.  I felt the more I tried to follow the rules the harder it was not to disturb them.
2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.

I was more focused on the focusing of the camera I was worried the photos would come out blurry.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?

I would sort of want to take a photo of better subjects. I would also like to be invisible to sort of focus on the rules.

4. What things would you do the same?

I really like to use rule of thirds I tend to be better in that rule.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?

Rule of thirds, I always use rule of thirds, its imprinted in my mind.

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?

Avoiding mergers, it sort of slips your mind when you are shooting.

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?

Balance, I really forget about that one too, I guess I can sort of try to find things that balance each other out.

Hi Olivia. I really love your Trophy Legacy photo, its truly pleasing to the eye I adore the zig zag. I also really love the painting photo, the perspective is great. On your Thinking Shady photo I think you could have avoiding coping the subjects head off. GREAT JOB!

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

1. What theme, that we could take here at school, could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?
I don't really know what the theme should be because everyone has their own opinion.  I think that we, as a class, should think and brainstorm what we want the theme should be.

2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?

I think it should depend on the person and what they want to use.  Some people may be better at taking photos on their phone then on regular cameras. I personally think the person should choose.

3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?

I think a good place to put the mural would be the cafeteria.  Lots of people sit there in the morning, after their sports class, lunch, etc.  I personally think that the cafeteria is the best place to put the mural up.

PART 2:

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them? Post the images with your writing.

I really like the work she does with things like plants and animals.  Its always the first thing to catch my attention because I'm a person that always admires nature.  She tended to use things like white flowers to contrast the black of the photography.

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time in the assignment Great Black and White Photographers Part 2. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.

I see: I see the soft white petals of a magnolia flower.  I can see the others that surround the single flower that is being shot.  I can see millions of bees and butterflies surrounding the area, pollinating the flowers.
I smell:  I smell the sweet smell of the magnolia.  I can smell cut grass and fresh air.  I can smell cooking from a home close by.
I hear:  I can hear the wind blowing against my ears.  I can hear the sweet chirps of baby birds crying for their parents.  I can hear the buzzing of bees that buzz past me.
I taste: I can taste all the smell that smells that are around me.
I feel: I can feel the soft gently wilted petals of the magnolia flower.  I can feel tiny little insect legs landing on my skin.  I can feel the leafs and grass gently rub against my leg.

I see: I see two small snails spending a lovely time together.  I see a small little lily pad floating them off to a happily ever after.  I see a sweet blue/green pond gently floating those snails off using gentle waves.
I smell: I smell all the smells of the pond.  I can small the plants sprouting from the little pond.  I can smell the life that lives around the pond.
I hear: I can hear the sloshing of the pond as it hits its shore.  I can hear little birds splashing into the water to catch their dinner. I can hear fish splashing around as they attempt to swim away.
I taste: I can taste the pond water.  I can taste the smells around me.
I feel: I can feel the water splash around me and the little droplets land on me.  I can feel the fish brush against my legs as they swim in a panic.  I can feel the dragonflies gently land on me to then quickly lift off and leave.

3.) Finally, what would you like to create to show the world your great photographer. Ideas include, posters, power points, a blog, etc. You tell me what you would like to create so we can come up with a plan to share your thoughts and ideas about your photographer with your classmates and with the rest of the school.

I am not sure what I want to create, I just wanted to get better at taking photos because I just really enjoy taking photos.  I guess in sometime in the future I would love to use is as a side job, to get extra money.

Because there isn't enough light to be able to capture the image quick enough.

When there is plenty of light, you should always use the lowest ISO, to retain the most detail and to have the highest image quality.

Unusual and Interesting Photos

Part 1

1. What is your reaction to his work?
They sort of make me feel a little dizzy, they seem to be photos of known landmarks, or structors.

2. How do you think he made these photos?
I think he took different photos, all in different potions and then layered them on top of each other.

3 Think about some buildings you have seen, which ones would be good to take a photo like this? Tell me about those buildings, where are they, could you get easy access to them?
A good building or structor would be the Washington Monument, really any building in DC is a good building to shoot.  The Alamo in San Antonio could possible be a good structor to use, or even the Tower of the America's in San Antonio, it would be a hour drive or so from Austin.
